As District leaders advocate for statehood and full voting rights this summer, some pols are already looking to the fall.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser asked the Democratic National Committee to add D.C. statehood to its platform Tuesday.

For the last several years, I have marked Independence Day by making note of the fact that taxation without representation is alive and well in Washington, D.C. today.

President Obama will deliver his final State of the Union Address in a few days and District leaders and residents don’t want him to forget about the District of Columbia.

Another D.C. resident has voiced his support for statehood: President Barack Obama.

First Hearing in 20 years on DC Statehood

On September 15, the U.S. Senate held the first Congressional hearing in 20 years on DC Statehood.  The hearing entitled "   Equality for the District of Columbia: Discussing the Implications of S. 132, the New Columbia Admission Act of 2013" was called by Homeland and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Thomas R. Carper (D-(DE)).

Councilmember Anita Bonds Introduces a DC Statehood Resolution to the National Conference olf State Legislators being held August 3 -8, 2015 -- Cosponsors include CMs Vincent Orange, Kenyan McDuffie and Charles Allen

D.C. Councilmember Vincent Orange has proposed a resolution to garner support from the anticipated millions of visitors to D.C. from around the country during the October 10th, 2015 for the  20th Anniversary of the Million Man March - "Justice or Else" Movement.  The proposed Sense of the Council Resolution will read in part:
