11TH Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Walk and Parade – Monday, January 16, 2017

Please join Stand Up! In Democracy in DC (Free DC) as we march for the 11th time to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. leading the DC Statehood portion of the Parade – This year’s Theme is “We Are One”. Issue themes this year are “DC Statehood” and “Black Lives Matter.” Movie, television and rapper, Nick Cannon, will once again lead over a 1,000 marchers for a 2 mile march for peace with justice.
Peace Marchers will join the MLK Parade at the Rise Center and the entire group will march to Anacostia Park for a Health Fair in a huge heated tent.
The meeting place for the Peace Walk will be in front of the United Black Fund at 2500 MLK Ave., SE (just steps from the Anacostia green line subway) at 8:30 am – a program will follow at that site before the Peace Walk walks up to meet the Parade. We will contact the organizers (who meet at the Rise Center on Saturday, January 7 at 10:00 am) to get more details about the reviewing stand location and info tables at the Health Fair).
