Trial Opens for D.C. Statehood Advocates
The Washington Post, METRO, CRIME &, THE DISTRICT, October 27, 2000

Six city residents who were arrested for advocating for D.C. statehood in the visitors gallery of the U.S. House of Representatives went on trial in D.C. Superior Court yesterday, charged with disruption of Congress.

It was the second time this year that such protests have been made during debates on the District. The defendants in the earlier case were acquitted.
