Carolyn N. Graham (on the left), the Deputy Mayor for Children Youth, Families and Elders, applauds with members of the Stand Up! for Democracy in DC Coalition who came to the John A. Wilson Building in hopes that someone from the mayor's office would read the the bill which was signed by the mayor in 2000 making April 16 DC Emancipation Day.

Before the group went to the Wilson Building, they performed a short skit in Freedom Plaza.

Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, who happened to walk by, was able to facilitate the meeting for the group.

Stand Up! Members (on the right) are Marilyn Preston Killingham, Ayo Handy Kendi and Anise Jenkins.
