President Donald Trump represents the Republican Party, which was founded by President Abraham Lincoln who said in the Gettysburg Address: “That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
President Trump’s opinion is a partisan one that Republicans will never allow Washington, DC to become the nation’s 51st state because it would be politically beneficial to Democrats.
In a recent interview published in the New York Post (Trump says Washington, DC, will never be a state – because of all the Democrats by Steven Nelson and Ebony Bowden, May 5, 2020). President Donald Trump said: “DC will never be a state. You mean District of Columbia, a state? Why? So, we can have two more Democratic – Democrat senators and five more congressmen? No thank you. That’ll never happen,” Trump declared.
The president added: “They want to do that so they pick up two automatic Democrat – you know it’s a 100 percent Democrat, basically – so why would the Republicans ever do that? That’ll never happen unless we have some very, very stupid Republicans around, that I don’t think you do. You understand that, right?”
President Trump makes it obvious that he believes that this District of more than 700,000 residents should be satisfied existing under dictatorial rule, be a colony of the federal government where how we vote for president or local dogcatcher will determine whether we should ever have equal voting representation in our national legislature or local self-determination and finally decide how this colonial government rules us and says how we will live.
Even President Lincoln would call it political slavery! Oh, Trump is no Abraham Lincoln! DC statehood would break those chains!
